What if you could enhance the way your skin looked without invasive surgery?
What if you could improve the way your skin felt in an all natural, safe way?
What if you could find a treatment that also was relaxing and focused on helping you feel better & look better?
Yes you can.
Cosmetic acupuncture has been growing as an alternative to invasive medical procedures, such as botox, because it is more natural and involves no toxins or invasive procedures. Throughout the celebrity and beauty world these treatments have been embraced because of how well they work to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, acne, and varicose veins.
If you look into the mirror and are bothered by the sight of sagging skin and fine lines collecting in the corners of your eyes and mouth, we understand, and you’re not alone. This natural and centuries-old technique will help you feel refreshed with improved skin tone and tightness all without having to go under the knife. During your treatment, thin, hair-like needles are strategically placed to stimulate healing. Facial acupuncture stimulates the production of elastin and collagen fibers, improves your circulation and relaxes tension in the muscles.
The majority of the very small and then acupuncture needles are placed on the face and head, as well as other parts of the body such as the lower legs, feet, arms and hands. Once the tiny needles are inserted they are kept in place for 20-30 minutes, effortlessly removed and then followed by a brief and relaxing face massage. Specialized smooth needles are used on the face to ensure easy, pain-free insertion into delicate areas. Some patients may not feel anything while the needles are in, while others might experience tingling, warmth or a mild sensation of tightness or slight pulling while the needles are in. Most patients tend to drift off into sleep and find the experience relaxing.
Patients can expect to see improved texture and skin colour with a smoother, brighter and more rested appearance. There is also a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, sagging, puffiness and drooping lids.
A study of 300 cases treated with cosmetic acupuncture. The results were overwhelming with 90 per cent of cases showing marked improvements with one course of treatment (consisting of 10-12 sessions). After the initial course of treatment, maintenance can be done every 1-3 months with results lasting up to 10 years.
Note: A customized nutrition plan is also offered to enhance results.
Acupuncture treatment stimulates the body to restore the upward flow of vital energy to improve circulation, decrease pain and prevent/reduce formation of varicose and spider veins. Vein treatment sessions are between 30-60 minutes in length depending on the area that is being treated. Results are maximized with a combination of post-treatment massage and a program of at home exercises that are required to be performed twice a day for no more than 10 minutes.
The main cause of skin acne is an increase in inflammation to the dermis. Treatments are 30 minutes in length every other day for a total of 10-20 sessions. A study found acupuncture to be 94% effective compared to traditional drug therapies.
Scar formation can be influenced by several factors including sun exposure, injury, surgeon skill, individual healing response, and/or infection. Acupuncture treatment for scars aims to even the matrix of collagen and scar tissue that has developed under the scar. Treatment time for scar therapy is 15-30 minutes in length with needles targeted around the scar itself. Patients can expect noticeable changes in the look of their scar as well as a decrease in pain, soreness and/or itchiness at the scar site itself.
The Facts about our Skin
After the age of 20, we produce about 1% less collagen in our skin each year. As a result, our skin becomes thinner and more fragile as we age. Our skin will also experience diminished functioning of our sweat and oil glands, less elastin production.
Over time with recurring facial expressions, combined with a thinning of the skin and declining of our collagen production, our facial muscles leave their marks with what we refer to as wrinkles (the furrows between our eyebrows and those crow’s feet at the outer corners of our eyes). Meanwhile other underused muscles begin to lose tone and sag, such as the areas around our jaw, chin, and neck.
Our skin rejuvenation treatment helps to increase your own natural collagen production, filling in your fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment increases blood circulation, allowing for a better delivery of nutrients to your face.
Some of the benefits of skin rejuvenation include an improvement in the firmness and moisture of skin; a tightening of the pores; a reduction in dark circles or puffiness under the eyes; a lifting of sagging skin, double chins, and drooping eyelids; and a healthy, glowing complexion.
The Aging Process
What causes our skin to become wrinkled as we age?
There are two classifications of aging; intrinsic and extrinsic.
Intrinsic aging is the natural aging process that takes place over the years regardless of outside influences.
Extrinsic aging occurs in addition to intrinsic aging as a result of sun and environmental damage (tobacco use and exposure to pollution, for example). Extrinsic aging shows up as fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, sun spot formation, with an exaggerated loss of collagen and elastin.
These processes can give the skin the appearance of roughness, uneven tone, brown patches, thin skin and deep wrinkles but with treatment we can work to change these results.
Skin Rejuvenation therapy aids the skin to naturally repair in the following ways:
- Moisturizes the skin by increasing circulation of blood and lymph to the face
- Improves muscle tone, firmness and elasticity of the skin
- Helps lift sagging and drooping
- Fills out sunken areas
- Helps eliminate fine wrinkles and soften deeper wrinkles
- Improves facial colour, leaving glowing and radiant skin
- Brightens the eyes and helps lift drooping eyelids.
- Improves hormonal balance to reduce acne
- Softens Acne scarring
- Reduces stress evident on the face & slows the aging process from within
- Leaves you feeling refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated
- Stimulates collagen production
What is Collagen is why is it important for your skin?
As mentioned, our collagen production decreases by one percent each year after we the age of 20. After the age of 30, our collagen level drops 1%-2% every year. By age 40, we have lost 10%-20% of our collagen and by 50, we are down 20%-40%.
Collagen, the most abundant protein in our body, is formed by the linking and winding together of amino acids to form collagen fibers. Collagen synthesis, ( process of forming new collagen) is an essential part of wound healing and gives structure and strength to our skin.
Our skin rejuvenation therapy offers a customized, personalized approach to enhancing, improving and strengthening your skin.
